What is dermarolling?
In essence, derma rolling is the act of simultaneously poking your skin with hundreds of tiny little needles. These needles create microscopic tears in the skin which signals to the brain to send blood and vitamins to the skin's surface. This process helps activate the production of collagen, the natural protein found in our skin that repairs its surface and keeps it supple. Over time, the production of this protein tends to slow down with the aging process. For these reasons, derma rolling is a great step to include in your skincare routine in order to combat the visual signs of aging.
Different needle sizes are recommended for different skin issues, but for safety purposes, the size should range from 0.25-0.5 mm. Anything above 0.5 mm is recommended to be done by a professional to minimize the risk of infection. The larger the needle size, the more effective it is at evening out the skin.
How do I use a dermaroller?
The derma rolling process is actually quite simple!
Below is the list of steps to take when deciding to derma roll.
1. Before starting, make sure to dunk your derma roller in rubbing alcohol for at least 30 seconds to kill any bacteria.
2. Make sure your face is completely clean.
3. Once the derma roller is dry, start to roll it across small sections of your face in a vertical direction first, then horizontal, then diagonal. Make sure you are not putting too much pressure on the derma roller.
4. Continue to roll over the same sections a few more times to really increase its effects however, don't continue if the pain is too uncomfortable. A small stinging sensation is completely normal.
5. Once you're done, remember to dunk your derma roller in rubbing alcohol for 30 seconds again to prevent bacteria build-up before the next use.
6. Gently apply your vitamin C serum on the skin!
**Other things to remember:
DO NOT use your derma roller on acne or open wounds.
Red splotches may appear the treated skin, but are completely normal and should go away in 30 minutes to an hour.
Avoid wearing heavy makeup and sun exposure as much as possible for at least 24 hours.
What is a vitamin C serum?
Amiré's Vitamin C serum is designed to tackle several different skin issues at once. It hydrates, heals, brightens, and evens out your skin tone. Apart from Vitamin C, our serum is formulated with other vitamins that serve different purposes to aid in the rejuvenation of your skin.
Vitamin E, like Vitamin C, is also a powerful antioxidant. It is best known for healing damage to the skin caused by UV ray exposure.
Key Ingredients
Vitamin C
Vitamin C is incredibly effective for anti-aging thanks to its large amount of antioxidants. Antioxidants cancel out the free radicals that are responsible for aging the skin. Free radicals are molecules in the skin that have been damaged by outside toxins in the air such as pollution, smoke, and pesticides. It also has a brightening effect that works well at fading hyper pigmentation, sun spots, and melasma.
Jojoba Oil
Jojoba Oil is a great ingredient to apply to the skin to moisturize it. It is one of the most well-absorbed oils, mainly due to the fact that it is one of the closest-resembling ones to your skin's natural oils!
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is well-known for its anti-inflammatory properties. It helps heal damage to the skin caused by burns and acne.
Hyaluronic Acid
Hyaluronic Acid is a naturally occurring chemical found in your skin. It moisturizes, replenishes, and keeps it firm. As a result of aging, the amount of hyaluronic acid in the skin naturally declines, so applying it topically will reduce visual signs such as wrinkles and fine lines.
Why should you use a dermaroller and Vitamin C serum together?
Grouped together, derma rolling and vitamin C is the perfect recipe for clear, glowing, and moisturized skin!
The effects of Vitamin C serum are most successful when the product is applied after derma rolling. As the derma roller makes its little cuts into your skin, it makes anything applied to it much easier to absorb. The skin is very sensitive at this point, so it is the perfect opportunity to place only the best ingredients on it.
After derma rolling, it is best to let your skin rest for a few minutes. Then, gently apply two or three drops of the serum onto your face in an upwards motion until fully absorbed. Dermarolling should be done once a week to give your open skin time to heal, but the Vitamin C serum should be applied every day.
